July 3rd BBQ & Party

More than 200 Oakmore residents came to celebrate Independence Day on Sunday July 3rd and what a celebration it was! There was food, music, popcorn, lots of laughs, and fabulous entertainment provided by Jeremy Shafer, who wowed the crowd with his juggling & unicycle skills and balloon sculpture magic.

Hundreds of dollars of wonderful raffle prizes were provided by our own Oakmore Village merchants: Star Inspection Service; Wells and Bennett Realtors; Rocky’s Market; Dan R Meats; Patricia Bennett, Realtor; Farmers Insurance; Holiday Cleaners; Mane Event; Dr. Lambing, Dentist; Dr. Sparks, Dentist; East Bay Aikido; and Dr. Martinet, Chiropractor. Ted Garrett, Oakmore resident and cheer leader, also arranged for a prize provided by the Los Altos Village. Hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks and dessert were free for OHA members.

Thanks go to Byron Bardy and Gary Semans for wielding the spatula at the BBQ. Donnis Hobson, Sheila Perry and Terry Kulka served up chips and drinks while Cindy and Geoff Haines ran the popcorn machine and conducted the raffle. Many thanks to Art Kuhn, Carol Van Steenberg, and Joni Leventis, who greeted guests and sold raffle tickets at the entrance

It has been over 20 years since the last community summer BBQ was held and those attending appreciated the opportunity to meet new neighbors, make new friends, and renew old friendships. We hope this will be an annual event, brought back by popular demand.
